Monty, a pure-bred Whippet owned and handled by Queen City Road Runner member Gail Ball, earned his Flyball Master title at the recent 2010 Athens Dawg Derby flyball tournament in Athens, Ga.
Double Dog Dare of Ga hosts the Athens Dawg Derby each year, drawing competitors from all over the South East.
Monty ran second position on the Queen City Road Runners "Just Plain Beep" team. This team competed in the Regular class of competition and placed first in Division Four(4). Monty and Gail have been playing flyball for three years, and this title is a first major milestone in flyball competition. The Flyball Master title recognizes 5000 points earned in his career as a flyball racing dog.
Monty is the fourth Flyball Master on the Queen City Road Runners flyball club.

Whippet earns Flyball Dog title
Miles, a pure-bred Whippet owned and handled by Queen City Road Runner member Gail Ball, earned his first title at the recent 2010 Athens Dawg Derby flyball tournament in Athens, Ga.
Miles played flyball as a team member of the Birmingham Bandits' Gin Slingers team. This team competed in the Open class of competition and placed third in Division Three(3). This was Miles' second tournament as a racer, and he did very well.

Just Plain Beep and Gun Slingers Rock!
Many thanks to Double Dog Dare from the The Queen City Road Runners. You guys are excellent hosts, and we really enjoyed the tournament! DDD was everywhere, making sure that the action never abated.
We also want to thank Kate for boxloading for "Just Plain Beep"; we really appreciate your help! Thanks also, to the judges; racing kept apace, and made what looked like a tough schedule fly by.
And a hearty thank you to the ladies and Trey from the Birmingham Bandits for including our dogs on the Gun Slingers. This was a great opportunity to get a green dog some experience, with Miles earning his Flyball Dog!
Also, congratulations to our gal, Gail, and her Whippet, Monty. He earned his FM Sat, we are so proud of them both! After three years, the Road Runner now has a complete (4 dog) Flyball Master lineup - woo hoo!
